📚 Cutter Morning Star Teachers & Staff – Days 2 & 3 Recap! 💡
Our theme this year is "Excellence by choice, not by chance," and our staff showed just that with two powerful professional development days led by Cara Shores from Solution Tree!
For two days, our educators dug deep into Supporting Students to Meet Standards. Cara guided us through building learning progressions, designing aligned assessments, and creating rigorous, tiered lessons to ensure every student is supported and challenged.
👩🏫 Day 2 Highlights:
✅ Unpacking standards to build learning progressions
✅ Designing both formative & summative assessments
✅ Using assessment data to drive instruction & intervention
✅ Examining rigor in instruction
✅ Planning extensions for students who master the standards
🧠 Day 3 Highlights:
✅ Tiering instruction based on assessment data
✅ Creating scaffolds for struggling learners and extensions for advanced students
✅ Designing complete tiered lessons with purposeful groupings
✅ Exploring digital tools & AI to support differentiated instruction

Today marked the first day back for our incredible teachers and staff – and what a meaningful start it was! This year's theme, "Excellence by choice, not by chance," set the tone for a day full of inspiration, connection, and purpose.
The morning began with a delicious breakfast prepared by our amazing Chartwells cafeteria associates. Superintendent Dr. Nancy Anderson opened the event with a heartfelt prayer, and staff members had the beautiful option to join hands in a circle around the room to pray together.
Each seat featured a Campbell’s soup can in a bowl – a fun and creative way to find a partner and connect! Once paired by soup type, each staff member and their partner walked the red carpet together, introducing one another to the group in a show of camaraderie and community.
Special thanks to Chief Chad Durham for providing essential Security Training and to all the faculty for diving into campus-specific professional development in the afternoon.
