The Senior Beta Club from Cutter Morning Star High School sent eight of its members to State Convention on Friday, January 25, 2019, along with their sponsor, Ms. Miranda Welch. National Beta Club is an honor society for high school students who have exceptional grades and exemplary behavior. Every year National Beta holds its Arkansas State Convention in Hot Springs at the Hot Springs Convention Center. All members participated in various competitions. The students did exceptionally well in their competitions, but one student received recognition for his high achievement. Colby Heaton, an 11th grade member, scored fifth in the state in the social studies division, which is enough to take him to National Convention in June.
Mrs. Vicki Philipp, high school history teacher at CMS, spoke highly of Colby, stating:
“Colby has been an “A” social studies student during his time at CMS High/Junior High. He keeps up with current events and is able to relate past and present events. Colby is very involved with athletics and is an integral part of the CMS High basketball team, As President of the Junior Class, Colby has been involved with projects helping CMS move forward to a new high school building, He is a strong participant in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and in his Church. Colby is a well rounded young man who represents CMS High School in an outstanding way!”
This was an amazing and fun experience for all involved and the students cannot wait to do it again next year.

Please pay your class dues ASAP.
